FINAL NOTE

I DO NOT WRITE NOVELS FOR AUTHORS. That is ghostwriting and something I am not interested in where fiction writing is concerned. I write ONLY my own fiction novels and short stories. Therefore, do not expect that I will write or rewrite your story for you as I go through the process of editing. That is not my job. You are the writer, therefore you are responsible for learning how to write a story and write it well. I am only responsible for editing your story to make it cleaner and clearer. I edit based on the level of each writer. I bring clarity and grammatical correctness to your work based on where you are in your writing career.

If you require a manuscript evaluation, inquire with me as to the pricing and turnaround, PRIOR to soliciting my editing services. Because in the end, if the overall story is not a good one, that is on you. So if you'd like me to evaluate the story in advance of editing, let me know. I will gauge your level as a writer and assist you with understanding what you need to do to be a better writer, or to bring your manuscript to a level where at the very least it is ready for editors and readers.

Know that your writing will develop over time. So if your first novel isn't a great one, that doesn't mean anything. Many famous authors had rough starts with their first published works. As you learn the craft of writing, your future works will become better, and the level of editing will increase (as the number of basic edits decrease) based on your abilities. But again, if your writing is at the level of a 12th grader, I cannot turn it into the work of Maya Angelou or James Baldwin; nor can I turn you into a doctorate level literary writer or someone who has been practicing their craft daily for the last 30 years; that would mean rewriting your work for you based on a level you have not reached and that is not my job; nor does it benefit you as a writer in the long run as far as improving your craft. I can only edit the 12th grade level work so it has better clarity and grammatical structure, but at that level only. It will only be a clean and grammatically correct 12th grade level work, and will be seen as such by astute readers and editors. Nothing more.

I can give you tips on how to be a better writer. But if you wish to truly advance as a writer, that takes hard work and dedication; not to mention a willingness to learn. Myself and others can guide you, but we cannot through some magic turn you into a great writer. Only practice through writing and learning can advance you to the next level. Take workshops, classes, write daily, read books on writing, and read the works of authors who write at the level you wish to reach.

Whatever you do, know that writing is something you do for the love of it. If you are attempting to become a writer for any other reason, you might find yourself disappointed and slow to evolve in the world of literature; if you evolve at all.
